What time do the games start?
All teams must be ready to play at 7 AM as the games are short. The team should be aware of their game times as there will be no additional waiting time, and the matches will start at 8 AM.
How long will the event last?
The Galveston Cup starts at 7 AM and ends at 7 PM after the award ceremony for the champions.
What time does my son’s team play?
The coaches will receive the official Schedule of Games with the list of matches and their timings. To know the time your team plays, it is necessary to communicate directly with your coach or Team Mom.
What is the minimum number of games to be played?
Each team will have a guaranteed 3 games. Depending on the number of teams in each division, different qualification systems will be implemented:
- 8 Teams
2 Groups of 4 teams. The top 2 teams from each group advance to the next round. - 10 Teams
3 random games are guaranteed for each team. After the games, the top 8 teams with the most points advance to the next round. - 12 Teams
3 Groups of 4 teams. The first-place team from each group and the best second-place team advance to the next round. - 14 Teams
3 random games are guaranteed for each team. After the games, the top 8 teams with the most points advance to the next round. - 16 Teams
4 Groups of 4 teams. The top 2 teams from each group advance to the next round. - 28 Teams
7 groups of 4 teams. Only the first-place team from each group and the best second-place team advance to the next round.
Will there be resting areas?
Yes, there are resting areas in the Pavilion. However, teams can also set up their tents in designated areas.
Do we play with tennis shoes?
No, the use of tennis shoes for playing is prohibited. Players can wear socks, and water shoes with thin soles, or play barefoot.
Will snacks be provided to the players?
No, teams are responsible for the food and snacks for all their players. The Galveston Cup staff does not provide any type of snacks during the event. Some sponsors will be offering free snacks and beverages, but we cannot guarantee that everyone will receive these products. Teams can visit the sponsors’ area to receive gifts directly from the sponsors.
Where do I register?
Registrations can be done directly at www.galvestoncup.com, but currently, all categories are full, and registrations have ended.
What other activities are there?
We will have music, raffles, gifts, and additional activities in the sponsor area. The playground area has also been reserved for children to have fun. It is the responsibility of the parents to supervise their children. The organizers will not be monitoring the playground.
Is there a parking fee?
The City of Galveston charges $15 per car to access the beach. This ticket allows cars to enter and exit on the same day. There is also an option for free parking a little farther from the beach but within walking distance.
IMPORTANT: The organizers of the Galveston Cup are not responsible for the beach entry fee. In fact, the staff, referees, sponsors, and organizers of the Galveston Cup must pay the $15 fee to access the beach.
Do you provide lunch?
No, the organizers do not provide food for the players or attendees. The beach will have food and beverage concessions where you can purchase food. You can also bring your own food, including grills, barbecues, or cooktops to prepare your own meals.
What are the prizes?
The winners of each category will receive a trophy for the team, medals for the players, and a $250 credit towards registration for the Galveston Cup 2024. The second-place team in each category will receive medals for all players. Only 8 medals will be awarded per team for the players, and the coach will receive 1 medal.
What can I bring? Tent, grill, food, cooler…
Participants can bring their own items, including tents, grills, coolers, food, beverages, snacks, chairs, tables, etc. It is only requested not to have glass containers to avoid any issues. If you wish to cook on the beach, it is important to take extreme precautions with charcoal or gas to prevent any accidents.
When would we receive the prize in case of winning?
The award ceremony will take place as soon as the finals of each category end. The prize will be given at that moment, and the credit for the Galveston Cup 2024 will be valid until June 30, 2024. Winning teams must confirm their participation in the event before that date to receive the credit. The $250 credit is only available for the Galveston Cup 2024 and cannot be redeemed for cash.
Is there an ambulance in case of an emergency?
No, any kind of medical emergency must be addressed directly by the coaches and parents. It is recommended to have a “Safety Officer” in each team who will be responsible for any emergency situations.
